Updates Impacting Your ISD or Charter

It is the goal of Belt Harris Pechacek to keep the people who work within the governmental audit sector of Texas institutions continually informed with valuable information that is relevant to their jobs. If you are receiving this email, it is because we consider you a respected colleague and believe you may find the following information helpful.

As you may have already learned, the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) was amended in March 2015. A part of this amendment included a change in qualifications for the independent auditor of your district or charter school. Effective March 11, 2015, the selected independent firm that audits your district or charter school, is required to be a member of the Government Audit Quality Center (GAQC) – an organization that promotes the importance of quality governmental audits and the value of such audits to purchasers of governmental audit services. This amendment can be found in Chapter 109, Subchapter B, Rule 109.23 of the TAC.

Belt Harris Pechacek is pleased to say we have been a member of the GAQC since the inception of our firm. We have included the following links that serve as verification of our status. Please feel free to share this information with colleagues within your organization or those working with other districts or charter schools who may question the status of their independent auditor.
